About eTutorWorld:

eTutorWorld Corporation was set up in Glen Arbor, Michigan and Bangalore, India in 2008 with a mission to provide the highest quality of online private tutoring in Math and Science to middle and high school students worldwide, at an affordable price, with highly qualified yet cost effective tutors sourced from India.

A state of the art technology platform was developed for online tutoring using web conferencing and voice over IP (VOIP) technologies; and an excellent math and science curriculum was designed in line with state and federal curriculum guidelines. After extensive field testing across the US, eTutorWorld launched its new online tutoring services in the US in 2009.

Over the past 3 years, eTutorWorld has helped thousands of students all across the US in building strong concepts in Math and Science and in achieving better grades in school and in various tests like SAT, AP, ACT, STAR, FCAT and in the school Olympiad tests. In response to student demand, English tutoring was added in 2012.

The Founders and Management Team

eTutorWorld was co-founded by Mukul Agrawal and Ashima Sarkar.

Mukul Agrawal is the President and CEO of the company. Before starting eTutorWorld, Mukul was Managing Director and Country Manager for Unisys India, running a successful, fast growing and profitable India operation with $50 million in revenues and 2400 staff, providing outsourced business services to Unisys global customers.

Prior to this, Mukul has held senior corporate positions in the global IT and banking industry for 27 years with IT companies such as Tata Consulting and Fiserv, and banks such as Citibank and Deutsche Bank.

Mukul completed his Bachelor of Engineering degree from MS University of Baroda in 1979 and his MBA from IIM Calcutta in 1981. Mukul lives in Bangalore, India, along with his family.

Ashima Sarkar is the Academic Operations Director of the company. She has extensive classroom teaching experience, most recently with Delhi Public School, and she has done several years of online tutoring for US school students, before starting eTutorWorld. Ashima has a MS degree in Statistics from Mumbai University and BS in Education from Gujarat University. Ashima lives in Mumbai, India, along with her family.

Alka Agrawal is the Human Resources Director. Alka loves talking to people, making sure we hire the best staff and that they are well looked after. Alka lives in Bangalore, India, along with her family.

Learning By Design

Learning by Design methodology is proprietary to eTutorWorld. The teaching plan is customized for each student as per student’s needs and learning abilities. Learning by Design ensures that a student understands the fundamentals of a subject and achieves educational success.

How it Works

This innovative tutoring service uses full voice communication, online chat, web content sharing and unique interactive whiteboard technology for live interaction between the tutor and student. Students work from the comfort and safety of their home. Students can pre-schedule the sessions up to six weeks in advance, with the option of same tutor for continuity, or a session can be scheduled the same day, when the student needs help.

All sessions are recorded and available for review by parent or student for up to 30 days.

Pricing

By the hour, varies from $12 to $18 per hour, based on student’s grade and number of hours purchased

All sessions are scheduled for one hour with 50-55 minutes of actual teaching. Parents purchase the required learning package as per student’s tutoring need. Validity is 90 days from date of purchase.

Tutor Profile

eTutorWorld teaching staff is qualified and experienced in their respective subjects, but more than teachers, they are mentors. They were specially selected for their kind and caring approach with students.

The tutors are based in India, they are well qualified and experienced, and have excellent English communication skills. They are extensively trained in US curriculum and teaching methodology and in online tutoring.

Technology

All tutoring sessions are performed using standard home computer technology. Any personal computer (PC or Mac) may be used at home or another location of choice. In addition, a broadband internet connection and a headset with microphone are required.

Our website is hosted in the US on GoDaddy servers. It uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 32 bit encryption technology to ensure secure communication. Cisco WebEx, world’s #1 web conferencing tool is used for tutoring sessions. PayPal credit card payment gateway is used for accepting secure payments.

Quality and Security

Student safety and privacy are of utmost importance. eTutorWorld’s Privacy Policy is verified by TRUSTe, and eTutorWorld abides by the Child Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). All sessions are recorded and can be reviewed anytime by the parent or the student. Every tutor’s session recordings are reviewed periodically by eTutorWorld Quality Assurance staff.
